Umeda Sky Building

Explore a one-of-a-kind view of Osaka
Umeda Sky Building

The Umeda Sky Building is an iconic landmark in the Osaka skyline. It is renowned for its “Floating Garden Observatory,” also known as the “Kuchu Teien Observatory.” The Floating Garden Observatory is an open-air observation deck that offers a 360° panoramic view of the Osaka skyline.

A unique aspect of the Umeda Sky Building is the remarkable escalator that transports visitors between the building towers to the observatory, hovering over the cityscape. While the ride offers a dramatic and scenic ascent, some visitors may experience mild vertigo due to the height. Holding onto the railing is advised for those feeling unsteady.

The observation deck, particularly on clear days, provides breathtaking views that are considered one of the highlights of visiting Osaka. The Umeda Sky Building is popular both day and night. Given the central location near Osaka Station, you will quite often be treated to remarkable views of the Osaka metropolitan area and into the nearby neighbouring prefectures.

Aside from a beautiful view of the Osaka Skyline, the Umeda Sky Building is multifunctional. On the basement floor to floor 1, you can find the Showa Retro shopping street, which has numerous restaurants designed to recreate the Showa period (1926-1986) look and feel.

There is also a movie theatre, and the ‘Koji Kinutani Tenku’ art museum found within the Umeda Sky Building.
