Chiba Prefecture is the neighbor to the capital city of Japan. And because of that, Chiba Prefecture ranks the 6th largest prefecture in terms of population, coming in at 6,240,000 people. Narita Airport, located in Chiba Prefecture, is Japan’s busiest airport. If you are flying into the Tokyo region, then you will likely be flying into Narita Airport. For those tourists who land in Narita, they tend to head immediately into the heart of Tokyo city the day of arrival, and typically miss out on the beauty of Chiba Prefecture.
A lot of the economy for Chiba Prefecture comes from agriculture – the second larger agriculture producer in Japan, second only to Hokkaido. A vast majority of the prefecture is quite rural, which is actually quite surprising because of how close it is to the center of Japan’s most populated city.
