Gunma Prefecture, located in the Kanto Region of Japan on the Island of Honshu, is a highly mountainous prefecture. Gunma is entirely landlocked, and due to the mountainous terrain, a lot of the population centers are located close to each other. The total population for Gunma prefecture is just under 2 Million people, with the capital city of Maebashi home to 1.2 Million people in the metropolitan area.

Skiing is also a popular thing to do in the prefecture, especially for those living in Tokyo as it’s on of the closest major ski destinations from the Tokyo Metropolitan area.
