Tokyo Haneda Airport, Accessing Tokyo Haneda Airport, How to get to Haneda airport, How to get to Tokyo from Haneda Airport

Haneda Airport (HND), officially known as Tokyo International Airport, is one of Japan’s busiest and most important airports. It is located in Ōta, Tokyo, about 15 km south of central Tokyo, making it the more convenient option for travelers heading into the city compared to Narita Airport, especially for those looking to minimize travel time to the city.

Haneda Airport has three terminals:

  • Terminal 1 – Serves domestic flights, primarily operated by Japan Airlines (JAL) and its affiliated carriers.
  • Terminal 2 – Handles domestic flights mainly for All Nippon Airways (ANA) but also has a small international section.
  • Terminal 3 – Dedicated to international flights with a wide range of airlines.

A free shuttle bus runs between terminals every 5-10 minutes, making it easy to transfer between domestic and international flights.

With two major international Airports servicing the Tokyo area, it is important that you make sure that you have the correct airport for your arrival or departure. Travelling via taxi between the airports takes about an hour and can cost a small fortune.

When booking for Haneda airport, make sure you see the Airport Code HND, and for Narita, the airport code is NRT.
