Kansai International Airport

Kansai International Airport (KIX), is located just south of Osaka City. It is the perfect place to fly into in you plan on visiting Osaka, Kyoto, Nara and the other cities of the Kansai region. Kansai International is one of two major Airports in Osaka – the other being Osaka International Airport (ITM), but despite ITM claiming the international airport title,  Kansai International Airport is the only of airport in the region to service international destinations as well as domestic destinations. Make sure you don’t confuse the airports when you go to fly out of Japan, as there is 1.5 hours of travel on trains between the two.

KIX is located on an artificial island in the Osaka bay, meaning that you will need to find a way to get across to the mainland. Luckily, there are a couple ways you use to get off the airport island. We highly recommend getting on the train, on the Nankai Kuko Line, which will take 10 minutes to arrive at Izumi-Sano Station, costing 490JPY

Izumi-Sano is the closest major city in Osaka Prefecture from KIX, making it a great place to lay your head if your flight arrives late in the day. You can find below some of the hotels near KIX that are either on sale, or feature a great price. Check out the options now and make your first day in Japan, an easy one.
