The Noboribetsu Date Jidaimura, commonly known as Noboribetsu Ninja Village, is a historical theme park in Noboribetsu, Hokkaido. The village is a replica of traditional Edo Period (from 1603 to 1868) village, complete with old and traditional style houses, merchant shops, and samurai residences.
The village features live-action performances, including thrilling ninja battles and swordplay demonstrations. These shows are not only entertaining but also showcase traditional martial arts and acrobatics. Shows are timetables each day, so be sure to check out what’s showing when and where when you arrive on the day.
For a more interactive experience, visitors can try their hand at ninja training, including throwing shuriken (ninja stars) or practicing archery. Children and adults alike can rent costumes to dress as ninjas, samurai, or Edo-period townsfolk and fully immerse themselves in the setting. Please be advised that some activities do come at an additional cost.
Another highlight is the Oiran Procession, a re-enactment of the elegant parades once held by high-ranking courtesans. This colorful and graceful display showcases a unique aspect of Edo culture.

The Katakura Koijiro Residence can be found at the back of the park, which features a small Katana Museum and offers a glimpse of what samurai life was like. The residence is a recreation of the residence used by Katakura Kojuru, a strategist for Date Masamune’s army. The residence also features a calming garden.
The Noboribetsu Ninja Village is located nearby the famous Noboribetsu Jigokudani Hell Valley – a beautiful geothermal park with great views of the Sulfur Vents and hot springs – and Noboribetsu Onsen, An hot spring village found just outside of Jigokudani Hell Valley.
