Okinawa is a small, island based prefecture. The prefecture was once a strategic stronghold for the US during World War II. To this day, the American presence in Okinawa is strong, with about 25,000 American military/air force personnel stationed in Okinawa. 

For locals, Okinawa is a popular destinations, as the tropical climate boasts year round activities. Coral reefs surround Okinawa, allowing for stunning snorkeling and Scuba Diving.  The capital city of Naha, can see temperatures around 20°C even during the coldest months of the year. 

From Tokyo, Okinawa is approximately a 2.5 hour flight, and from Osaka, it is just over 2 hours.
