Shitenno-ji Temple (四天王寺) is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Japan, located in Osaka. It holds significant historical and cultural importance as the first Buddhist and oldest officially administered temple in the country.

Shitenno-ji Temple was founded in 593 AD by Prince Shotoku, who played a crucial role in the introduction of Buddhism to Japan. The temple was built to promote Buddhism and serve as a center for learning and enlightenment.

The temple has been reconstructed several times throughout its history, but it maintains the architectural style of the original 6th-century design. Shitenno-ji Temple features a classic Buddhist layout with a main hall, lecture hall, and a five-story pagoda.

The temple grounds include a beautiful garden called Gokuraku-jodo, which represents the Pure Land, a concept in Pure Land Buddhism. Visitors can stroll through the garden and enjoy its serene atmosphere.

he temple hosts various festivals throughout the year, including ceremonies related to Buddhist traditions and cultural events that attract both locals and tourists.
